My new obsession: Planning for my summer research trip to Hawaii. It’s been a long time since I’ve moved anywhere – four years is the longest I’ve stayed in a place since leaving home when I was 18. It’s so strange and exciting. I have such a love/hate relationship with novelty. I’m super introverted, so I take a long time to adjust to changes in my life. But I crave change. After so long living in the same house I feel desperate to go somewhere, ANYWHERE new – even as I want to cling to the safety of my nest. I imagine this is what fledging must be like.
